I think its a negative type inversion, therefore auxially verb should be preceded by the subect like here in this case did is preceded by scientists in option B.
Actually "did" is followed by "scientists"; "scientists" is preceded by "did". Answer B is correct.

2. .......... 1810, water-powered textile manufacturing arrived in New Hampshire with the founding of a company in Manchester that manufactured cotton and wool.
(A) Early
(B) In the early
(c) As early as
(d) When early
Whats wrong with the option B?
"In the early" is used before a a decade, a century etc., not before a year. It could be "In early 1810" or "In the early part of 1810", but not "In the early 1810".

(A) where few other
(B) few others
(C) where do few others
(D) there are few others

This problem went over my head.
I don't blame you. This should be "Lichens grow extremely well in cold parts of the world, where few other plants can survive."

4.[Native to] South America and [cultivated] there for thousands of years, the peanut [is] said to[ have introduced] to North America by early explorers .

Hmmmm something wrong there with have introduced?
The peanut did not do the introducing; the peanut was said to "have been introduced". This is passive voice. It details something that happened to the peanut.

5-Among the symptoms of measles, which takes about twelve days to incubate, [are] a high fever, swelling of glands in the neck, a cough, and sensitive to light.
Something wrong with are in the sentence.
The problem is "sensitive". All the other items in that series are nouns: fever, swelling, and cough. The last should be "sensitivity".

*oh well I thought the problem is with the pronoun them? but my key says become is wrong. My key might be wrong?
"Become" is wrong; it should be "becoming". Because it follows the preposition "of", the word must be a noun. "Becoming" is a gerund-noun and the object of "of".
