Correction: beware of chercher - it can be a faux ami; and you would use the present continuous in this case*: "I am looking for ...".

*'Lonely hearts' advertisements are an exception: "White guy, good sense of humour, face like the back of a bus, seeks blind woman for friendship and caring." This sort of 'seeks' (where you'd normally expect 'is looking for') is a convention in small ads of all kinds - example "Man with van seeks odd jobs. Satisfaction guaranteed. Free, and worth every penny."
