Lapse: slip/error/decline. I don't think you will be able to use this to mean 'miss out'. And in any case, do you mean 'we missed the deadline' in your question? You could say: 'the deadline lapsed, and we missed it'.

I'm not so sure on 'pass over'. What should be the meaning of the sentence?
