Re: County vs Town vs Parish vs Borough In Pennsylvania, where I live now, the word "borough" is used to describe the town limits. For example, the town where I live is called "Downingtown" (after Mr. Downing) and I live just inside the borough limits. Across the the street, people still have a Downingtown address, but they are not inside the borough. I think this may have mattered for tax purposes, but it doesn't seem to matter now.
I'm not sure if this is related to Pennsylvania being a Commonwealth or not.
A village, by the way, is even smaller than a town. |
