The word "chicken" means, coward. There are two ways to play the game of chicken, one involves two cars driving towards each other, and the first driver to swerve out of the way of the oncoming car is considered the chicken, or a coward. The second way to play is where a person stands in the middle of the highway or road and waits for the oncoming cars to swerve.
