A rookie is somebody who is doing something for the first time. A rookie cop is just startimg out. A rookie ballplayer is in his first year.

You could say "I'm green" or "I haven't learned all the ropes yet" or "I still need a little seasoning" or "I'm stilll young and inexperienced and not worldy wise" or "I haven't yet made all the mistakes I am going to make". Or something like that.
