In hat and had, word-final /t/ and /d/ are voiceless and voiced, respectively.

Voiceless: /hat/
Voiced: /had/

[d] is produced by vibrating your vocal folds, and [t] is produced without vocal fold vibration. To experience fold vibration, or Voicing, place your hand over your throat and say the sound [d].
