Default Re: Human vs Humane

"Human" is both a noun and an adjective. As a noun, it means "Homo sapiens" - a person. As an adjective it can be used in several ways, so look in your dictionary for that.

"Humane" means "kind, mericful, compassionate" and so on. For example, if you feed a stray cat, you are being humane.

Examples:

* Shizuka is human. (= You are a person.)
* Shizuka is humane. (= You are kind and merciful to people and animals.)

Good luck,
George
