Default Re: 1984 Essay (Plz correct)

Sry one more argument here:

Though-police are the people in charge of physically controlling the people of Oceania. They enforce the law, and reform anyone suspected of committing though-crime. In the novel, the thought-police are seen as omnipresent, they are everywhere and can see everything and everyone. This is revealed by numerous comments made by Winston about the thought-police. “How often, or on what system, the though-police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time.”(Pg. ) This permanent though of control, fear of vaporization, makes most people think twice about rebelling or even making any small comment about the party’s decision. We can see even Wiston questioning himself about starting the diary. “(Wiston thinks what could happen to him)”(Pg. ) Even Wiston who at this point had no real meaning for living thinks for a minute about the though-police. Although the thought-police was though to be powerful and omnipotent, in Part two of the book we can see Wiston committing many crimes against the party, we even find out about a secret rebellion forming, the Brotherhood. But as the novel progresses and we get towards the end. Wiston is caught, and even more, the rebellion we find out to all lies meant to catch people like Winston and Julia who oppose the party. Here we also find that the thought-police also reforms people, after Wiston’s visit to “Room 101”. We find him to be totally brainwashed to love the party. “He had finally won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.” (Pg. 311) The though-police took someone who once hated Big Brother and the party and who loved freedom, and has turned him into a peon of the party, who will live his life by a controlled schedule and will spend his free time with a woman who he doesn’t even know.
