The sentence is about the automatic ticket booth which checks tickets.
(Though this is a fiction ), I carelessly put a calling card for telephone calls in the machine, which found the card invalid. So 'I' got caught in the machine, though 'the card' also was caught in the machine. In this case, 'I got caught in the machine' is correct?
