Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to you to be considered for the above Scholarship in the autumn semester of my fourth year at The Faculty of International Economic Relations. My first option is The University of Porto, Portugal in The Faculty of Economics.
One of the main reasons I wish to study abroad is that, in the context of globalisation, when cultural borders between countries are decreasing, the syllabus has an increasingly global nature. This Scholarship would enable me to study courses related to those I will have completed at The Faculty of International Economic Relations here in Bucharest.
Another reason for studying abroad is to learn a new language by immersing myself in the daily life of the country, especially in a non-English speaking country like Portugal. I believe that there is no better language laboratory than the country itself, and that speaking another language is essential in the commercial world.
A further advantage is the opportunity to discover the cultural heritage of Portugal in real life rather than from television, books and the Internet enabling me add dimensions to the knowledge I have already learned about Portugal. The general consensus of past students is that the hands on experience of diversity and culture are both valuable and fulfilling.
Living and studying abroad has benefits that I could not achieve by a short visit alone. It will allow me to broaden my perspective and contribute to my personal development by expanding my knowledge and widening my experience in a variety of academic disciplines.
Additionally, this scholarship would allow me to interact with students from all over the globe who may be studying the same programme, thus I will benefit from an enlarged circle of friends and contacts.
When you enter a different culture, you are exposed to new sights, sounds, smells, ideas, people and feelings. From this point of view, I consider it a challenge and an opportunity to explore and identify ways of improving myself.
I enclose my current Curriculum Vitae with details of my educational experience and qualifications for your consideration.
Thank you for your attention
yours faithfully,
Monica Petricica
Hope this helps, God, Night shift is boring
