Default Re: Online vs on line

[quote="whl626"]" Will you marry someone whom you met on line "

Answer 1 ) "online" is listed in the Dictionary of Current English. 'on line' is not listed. I use both, but place a hyphen between on and line, on-line.

Answer 2 ) Will you marry someone whom you met on-line? means, you met the someone in the past (i.e. 'met) and you are being asked now if you'll marry them in the future.
