I think you should be proud of where you are from or where you were raised,therefore you accent will be from the area where you have been raised or where you are living and even though some people are very good at putting on an accent different than theirs...you can always notice something "fishy" about the way they speak....wink,wink...
I might get away with an american accent but I cannot pretend to pass myself off as an american,I have that british intonation we alll love...
