call in one's markers
Hello
What does mean the idiom: " to call in one's markers"?
I've just heard in Dallas, Season I.,as Bobby asked his father about their mutual friend:
" If he's scared, why call in his markers?"
Thank you for your help.

Re: call in one's markers
I don't know what Bobby meant in this case, but the expression means that people owe him favors, and he's going to ask these people to help him out, because they "owe him."
