use of mid sentence note

I am trying to decide what the proper usage is of a mid sentence note:

"Many offer few, if any, benefits and are less likely to retain long term employees"

The question is about the 'if any' note added, should i use parentheses with a comma inserted after 'benefits' instead?

"Many offer few (if any) benefits, and are less likely to retain long term employees"

Not in this case. It's too short, and besides it's an integral part of the sentence. Use parenthesis only if the comment is an aside (such as I often make) from the meaning of the sentence.
