I have faced a sentence that I can't make sense. May I ask you it's meaning?

Is the "long" meaning "There is a long interval time between lunch and now"?

Nanatuha, the expression is "long gone".
You're right. It means a long time ago.
Lunch is long gone. = Lunch was a long time ago.

"Gone" is the past participle of the verb "go". In this sentence it is used as an adjective meaning "past".

"Long" is an adverb modifying the adjective "gone".

No, you can never connect an adverb and a verb with "and", but you can connect two adverbs with "and".
Like this: I've worked hard and fast.

You cannot simply because it's a phrase and I would leave it the way it is. Just like at long last, in the long run, etc.


e.g.
A long time ago, in a world that's long gone ( it does not exist any more), knights were fighting bloody duels for their ladies.

"gone" is an adjective modifying "is".
"Gone" doesn't modify "is". It's a predicate adjective modifying "lunch". Adjectives modify nouns or pronouns.
