The first thing to point out is that "a: indefinite article" does not precede "makeup" because makeup is uncountable.
The expressions you have listed are correct: put on makeup and wear make up. There's also "use makeup".
Where's Alice?
She's putting on her makeup.
Does Alice always wear makeup?
I would say so.
