Default Suggestion expressions

Dear Mr/Ms/Mrs Teacher or Linguist...
I'm a newcomer in this site. I'm from indonesia. I take Linguistics as my major - Faculty of Letters, English Department. I'm going to do my final project, it's a research.
My Topic is about suggestion expression used by ESL.
Could you give me suggestions about some recent and relevant theories about this matter.
I'll do this research in the scope of Discourse Analysis and Sociolinguistics.
I'll use the method of role play.

Thank you for your attention.
