Question langauge barrier

I find it difficult sometimes to translate words from my language to english and vice versa.

i think i need some help in this matter.

for example, i can't find a word to describe what we call in my country (the morning broadcast). It describes as follows: a group of pupils gather every morning to present in front of the whole school (while quequeing ) short presentations of a varitey of topics.

i'm not quiet sure if the word 'assembly' matches the meaning..

please, give me a hint.

"Assembly" looks right to me. (Say: "on a variety of topics")
