Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I’m right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences from an English text?

After years of barely surviving on donations, the neighborhood social club finally went belly up.
go or turn belly up = to come to an end; die; fail
go or turn belly up = fail, go bankrupt, as in “This company's about to go belly-up.”

Let’s face it: your advertising campaign was a real flop.
face it = confront or accept an unpleasant or difficult situation, accept a difficult reality
flop = fiasco, disaster, debacle; bomb, dog

Yes we love her to bits, but does she get too much attention?
love her to bits = love her very much

I would agree with all of those definitions, with one slight exception.

Of the alternatives given for flop, I would say that failure would be a better choice. Fiasco and debacle - I don't think these really fit, disaster isn't too bad as if, for instance, a play was a complete flop then it would be a disatster. I believe that "bomb" is more of an American term, also for a failure ("That movie bombed at theatres". However, confusingly, I believe that "da bomb" (sic) is currently in slang use to mean something that is fantastic or the best!
