Tenses, when doing

I've got a few questions on Tenses and one question on the use of 'when'. Here they are:

1.Remember how long she waited for your letter!
Remember how long she was waiting for your letter!

2.She (had??) lived in that place for over ten years when she was suddenly accussed of murdering her neighbour.

3.What's the usual way of saying the following sentence:
-I'll substitute for you tomorrow, then.
-I'll be substituting for you tomorrow.
-I am substituting for you tomorrow.

In my view, the first sentence is correct if I made up my mind to substitute for my colleague at the moment of decision (=a couple of seconds ago). The second sentence is right if the action happens as something usual - that is to say: I have no intention of doing it, it will just be a matter of routine. The third sentence shows that I have arranged with this person that I'll substitute for him.
Are my statements right?

Is the construction 'when doing' appropriate in this context?

Use the first one but not the second. Use QMs and not EMs.

Yes, use "had" there. Why "suddenly"?

I agree with your analysis of the first sentence. The other sentences are more or less statements of fact. (It is a foregone conclusion that the speaker is going to do what he says he is going to do.)

What does the sentence 'Use QMs and not EMs.' mean? The best I can come up with is that it's a proverb.

She was accused of murderer suddenly because she did not know she would be accussed, she was not aware of being followed and so on. Perhaps, I meant she was unjustly/falsely/wrongly accused but I think there is a rather considerable difference between these two kinds of adjectives in this context.
She didn't expect to be accused.
OR She was not expecting to be accused?

In my opinion, suddenly does not work with accused. Instead, try:

She was unexpectedly accused of murder.
