Default with a cold

Dear teachers.

I'd like to know the meaning of (1) and (2).
1. I am down with a cold.
2. I have come down with a cold.

Default Re: with a cold

They mean pretty much the same thing.

1. I am down with a cold.
=> I am not up and about, moving around, doing my normal routine.

2. I have come down with a cold.
=> "come down" means, to suffer. My health has been reduced.
