shined ? shone ?

Dear teachers.

"The sun shined brightly."

Is there anything wrong with that sentence?

How about this one?

"What do you think made me come here?"

1. shined, or shone (both forms are acceptable)

2. What do you think made me come here? (grammatical)

Mind you, 'shined' isn't used that much, is it?

In North America, "shone" is pretty much dead.

We'd say 'I shined my shoes till they shone'.
