Default An English major student..

Hi,
I want to kno the best wat to say the following:
Are you an English major student?
Yes, I am an English Major student.

I am English major student, is the sentence I find the best one to use.
What do you think? It may be an easy answer, but I cannot see it.

Either "an English major student" or "a student majoring in English" is fine. Note, "student" is a count noun, so it requires a determiner/article.

I'd say my major is English. They can tell by first glace that I'm a student, so (IMHB)there's no need to stress my identification.

I was thinking about the difference between using the and a (an). I thought that I should not use a or an with oneself. Now its clear as Reemani also suggested as we sat to discus that if I am going to say I am the English major student, which I did not mean it to be this way, it will mean that I am the English student who studies English. When using an, she said this will be related to anything you do with the English language. For example, when saying "this is an english book, or text" here we need to use the an article.

Thanks Cas, and Sappy. And thanks Reemani.

David said he was an English major student. I was going to introduce Susan to David.

So we(David, Susan and I) hung out last night and had a nice dinner at the corner of Wall Street. David talked his head off all night about American literature. Susan had to sit and listen and said nothing(This is really bad when two people first meet). He had interesting perspectives on literature though. After dinner, I phoned Susan and asked her what she thought about David.

Susan asked me why he knew a lot about those boring literature.

I said, "He is the English major student I told you before! Remember?"

Susan, "Oh, that David."

"So how do you feel?"

Yes, you can use a definite article before a noun. But there has to be a certain context.

As Blacknomi noted, one would usually say, "I am an English major" (with the "student" assumed) or, "I am majoring in English."

(Chemistry = mutual attraction)
