I think the expression "jim-dandy" sounds funny - in my opinion, of course.

fond of - not fond on

Keep an eye on your spelling.

Let's call it day. = We've done enough for today. We can stop working now. Let's stop working now.

That about does it. = I think it's okay to say, or safe to say, that this is finished.

Last week I was watching the animation movie "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa"
and recalled this thread a lot.
In this movie, the characters use such American expression, all the time - both the ones listed here and new ones.
Anyone who is interested in learning this kind of American expressions and/or slangs should what that animation.

Besides, the adventures of Alex the Lion, Gloria the Hippo, Marty the Zebra and Melman the Giraffe are amazing.

As an example, I extracted the expression "Break a leg!", which I think means "Good luck". Although formely used mainly by theatre actors I think today this expression has a widespread use in AmE and also in other English variants. Maybe someone could confirm that.

If I am not mistaken, we can't have 'slangs'. 'Slang' is like 'information'. We can have an slang term, a slang word, an item of slang.

Try not to get upset over not understanding slang completely.
