Last week I was watching the animation movie "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa"
and recalled this thread a lot.
In this movie, the characters use such American expression, all the time - both the ones listed here and new ones.
Anyone who is interested in learning this kind of American expressions and/or slangs should what that animation.
Besides, the adventures of Alex the Lion, Gloria the Hippo, Marty the Zebra and Melman the Giraffe are amazing.
As an example, I extracted the expression "Break a leg!", which I think means "Good luck". Although formely used mainly by theatre actors I think today this expression has a widespread use in AmE and also in other English variants. Maybe someone could confirm that.
