I don't understand the first part of the sentence:
Just one shot to make the difference between happily ever after and:
"Oh, he's just some guy I went to some thing with once."

This means the guy needs one more action (shot) to make the transition between love and not love with the woman.
PS: That transition happens in a blink of an eye ;)
