Is the word deadly used in English as a kind of compliment?
Last weekwend, while watching the movie 'The United States of Leland', I could see a man declaring himself to woman with the following words:

"Oh, come on. You're beautiful. You're beyond that. You have no idea how beautiful you are. You're deadly. You're deadly. I'm powerless before you."

I think the word deadly may mean "the one who kills", may it?
What kind of compliment is that?

The literal meaning of "deadly" is indeed "something likely to cause death" but nowadays it is sometimes used in the way it is used in the film.
