Default Fair game

Hi teachers,

Here is a scenario I've seen:

There are 3 people walking down the street. Ms. A
and Mr. B are teasing each other very closely and holding hands as if they were husband and wife. Both Ms.A and Mr.B are married but not to each other. Mr.C says to them,"You guys are bad." Ms.B says to Mr.C,"It's a fair game."

can u explain the meaning and give some examples for using the slang "fair game"?

Thx

The idiom 'fair game' means, legitimate target or object. For example, if Ms. A's husband were doing the same thing with someone else, then Ms. A's doing it with someone else is considered fair, legitimate, given her husband's behavior. But given the limited context above, I'm not sure what 'a fair game' is supposed to mean. Seems to me it could be synonymous with "an innocent game"? I'm confused, sorry. Do you have more context?

By the way, who is "Ms. B"?

Well, I agree - "fair game" here means that their respective husband and wife are doing the same thing behind their backs (or perhaps even in the open)...cheating on each other that is. In other words, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Oh,I'm sorry. It's a typo. There's no Ms. B

Only 3 people in this scenario:Ms.A,Mr.B and Mr.C

Should be this:

Ms.A says to Mr.C,"It's a fair game."
