Absolutely!
If friendships/relationships are not nurtured, they will soon die. You nurture a friendship by calling someone to say hello for no reason other than that you like the sound of their voice, or you are interested in how their day or week is going. You nurture a friendship/relationship by being interested in spending time with them doing things that may at the beginning not be of particular interest to you, but if your friend/partner likes to do it, you try.
I am not a teacher.

You can "nurture crops" but the usual word is "cultivate", they mean more or less the same thing.

Well,
A heard from somewhere that nurture is positive and cultivate can be negative, ex.
I nurtured a friendship with John in order to extract vital infromation about the treasure from him.
In this sentence usage of nurture is appropriate or not?
Should it be replaced by cultivate?
I cultivated a friendship with John in order to extract vital infromation about the treasure from him.
I heard that cultivate is appropriate because if you perform something for selfish interest, then you must use cultivate instead of nurture. Nurture is only used when you not expecting anything out of it.
Thats why, you dont say, nurture crops but cultivate crops, however you can nurture plant but not cultivate plant.
Is this logic appropriate?
Pls express your opinion on this.
Thanks
