Translation:"The count shrugged his broad shoulders"

I am reading a book , and I could not understand a sentence.Could you please let me know ?

"The count shrugged his broad shoulders" . Especially I can not understand "The count."

It's a title of nobility. Count/Countess = Duke/Duchess = Marquis/Marquessa.
(Well, I may have my heirarchy wrong, but that's the general idea, anyway.)
