What is the difference in meaning using '' long'' and ''far'' in between as as ?

The phrase as long as has at least three different usages:

1. During or for the period of time that...
Ex. You are welcome to stay at my house as long as you want.

2. Since...
Ex. As long as you're going to the store, get some orange juice.

3. On the condition that...
Ex. OK, we'll stop for ice cream on the way home as long as you're good at grandma's house.

The phrase as far as means to the degree or extent that:

Ex. Around my home town in Illinois, there are corn fields as far as you can see.
(That is, the corn fields continue to the extent that you can see.)

Ex. As far as I know, Tom will be back to work on Monday.(I'm not absolutely certain, but that's what I heard. To the extent of what I know, he will be back on Monday.)
