THE solitary girl VS solitary girl
Hi, is better to say
"The Solitary Girl" or "Solitary Girl"
when introducing some girl to e.g. my parents. Let's say (hypothetically), my parents and I were using the adjective solitary, when talking about her. (she, my girl, don't know that her nick-name between me and my parents is Solitary Girl.
So is better to say (when introducing her to my parents) (again, this is not a real situation :) )
"Hi, my dear parents. I would like to introduce my girlfriend. This is the solitary girl/solitary girl. :DDDD"
I know, this example sounds a little bit funny :), but I want to know how to deal with adjectives, which are associated with only one person (especially the article, zero VS certain)

O.K. solitary means being alone.
If you mean that this is the only girl you are interested in, then just saying that this is my girlfriend is enough in Canada, and I am pretty certain also in the US. If you want to make it more clear to your parents that she is very important, then besides saying "girlfriend" you could say that "she's the only one for me"
Solitary is not something that you would use when discribing a relationship.
I am not a teacher.

But he's not describing a relationship; he's describing the girl.
If her nickname is Solitary Girl (capitalised), you could introduce her as that.
If you are calling her the solitary girl, you could say "This is the solitary girl I've been telling you about". It depends on whether it's actually a nickname or merely a description that you refer to her by.
Either way, it's a strange name, as you say.

He is describing her as his girlfriend, as far as I can understand. Even though he says it is hypothetically.

Re: THE solitary girl VS solitary girl
Okay, searching, let's use a different example. Let's say she has a pet snake, so he and his parents refer to her as "Snake Girl" when they are talking about her.
"Mom, Dad - this is Carla. She's Snake Girl."
"Mom, Dad - this is Carla. You know - the snake girl."
The first one makes more sense if you call her "Snake Girl" at home while you're talking about her, but either one would be fine.
Be prepared for her to hit you and say "You call me 'Snake Girl' when you talk about me at home?"

Re: THE solitary girl VS solitary girl
Thank you guys. And is it so rude to call somebody, even a girl "Solitary"?
Is it rude? Is better to say, e.g. Lonely Girl with a little bit of nomadic flavour
?
I was always thinking that "solitary" means when someone is alone and even doesn't like people and is always travelling like, let's say gypsies
(with the difference, that gypsies are usually more potent when it comes to reproduction and are moving in huge groups and never alone. Honestly, I have never seen a "solitary" gipsy in my whole life.

O.K. I see that you are located in Berlin (my favourite city in Germany) and your first language is German. So is mine, but I have been in Canada since 1955, so my English is much better. What German word are you translating into "solitary"? That may be the reason that we seem to be thinking of a different meaning.
Refering to a girl as solitary or lonely is not really a positive way to describe her.

Written and sung by: Neil Diamond
Solitary Man
Melinda was mine
til the time
That I found her
Holding jim
Loving him
Then sue came along
Loved me strong
Thats what I thought
Me and sue
But that died too
Don't know that I will
But until I can find me
A girl who'll stay
And wont play games behind me
Ill be what I am
A solitary man
Solitary man
Ive had it to here
Bein where
Loves a small world
Part-time thing
Paper ring
I know its been done
Having one
Girl wholl love me
Right or wrong
Weak or strong
Dont know that I will
But until I can find me
The girl wholl stay
And wont play games behind me
Ill be what I am
A solitary man
Solitary man
[excuse the spelling mistakes - they aren't mine - or Neill's either]

Re: THE solitary girl VS solitary girl
So Neil Diamond will stay a solitary, lonely man until he can find the right girl. That still doesn't mean that you can describe a girlfriend as your solitary one.
And, I also have that track on a CD.

It's more polite than "No-one-wants-to-go-anywhere-near-her Girl"
Anyway, popio should ask the lady whether she minds being called that, and listen for the meaning in her answer.
