Question One of my friends vs. A friend of mine
Is there any nuance in meaning between 'one of my friends' and 'a friend of mine'?

We may say 'He kissed one of my friends', but is it okay to say 'He kissed a friend of mine'?

Also, are both 'One of my friends died last night' and 'A friend of mine died last night' acceptable?

No difference in meaning. They are different grammatical structures though.
