    Question 40th anniversary of lunar landing

    this is the opening part of an artical on Timesonline: One small step back to where we started (Mark Mason) In July 1969, soon after their return from the moon, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were shown footage of the world’s reaction to the lunar landing. They saw the US newscaster Walter Cronkite wiping away his tears; people gathered around televisions from China to Brazil; pavements outside TV shops crammed as people watched in awe. Aldrin turned to Armstrong. “Neil,” he said, “we missed the whole thing”. what does the title mean? the phrase "from China to Brazil" is a slang or just an ordinary expression?regards

    It gives the idea of 'all over the world'. You can change the names according- from Venezuela to the Vatican, etc.

    The phrase is a self-invented one by the author, intended to mean "all around the world" or "in every corner of the globe."

    Here's a similar use of another self-invented phrase from pop culture, also intended to be understood as "everywhere in the world."

    They're anglin' in Laguna in Cerro Azul;
    They're kicking out in Dohini too.
    I tell you surfing's mighty wild;
    It's getting bigger every day
    From Hawaii to the shores of Peru.
