Is the use of "thus" correct in the sentence below?
This role was, however, difficult to reconcile with the EU’s lack of a competence on sport, and a judgment of the Court of Justice would bring an end to the funding of the said programmes, thus forcing the Commission to fit sport into other EU programmes, such as that on the integration of minorities and people with disabilities.
Thanks.
Sounds fine to me.
I changed the sentence a bit. I'm wondering whether the sentence is correct without "thus."
The funding of the said programmes was, however, difficult to reconcile with the lack of an EU competence on sport, and ajudgment of the Court of Justice would lead to their suspension, thus forcing the Commission to fit sport into other EU programmes, such as that on the integration of minorities and people with disabilities.
Thanks.
