Hi teachers,
Can we say that someone is encouraged by his experience to do something?
For example,
Peter is encouraged by his 18 years of working experience to help the new comers to develop their skills necessary for the company business?
Please kindly advise, teachers.
Thank you.
Kitty.
Yes, it's correct to use encourage this way. However, this is a question of choosing appropriate vocabulary words, not a question of grammar.
I would rewrite the sentence:
Peter is encouraged by his 18 years of work experience, which makes him able to help newcomers develop the necessary skills for the company business.
His experience is a source of encouragement, but it's also something that qualifies him to help in the first place.
