snap things around
How was he to blame if dang Virgil was so ornery that he wouldn't give up his verbs until the very end of his sentences, as if he thought it would be a fine suprise to snap things around like a cat changing direction?
In the novel, "he" is translating Aeneid by Virgil and having trouble with it.
What do they mean by "give up his verbs" and "snap things around" in these sentences?
