Re: HELP! FIRST CLASS EVER!
Hi Javier,
i know exactly how you feel but believe me, it gets better.
Since you have an adult class. try to relax and start by explaining the basics of the language. I usually introduce myself, refer to my age and experience and I sometimes answer to questions about myself. Don't get carried away! They need to understand that you are confident.
Ask a few things about each person in your calss. And start the lesson.
Be polite but firm. Have patience and set your rules by presenting them as the best way to understand eachother.
Explain that Hw is essential and begin by expecting from each one only the best they can do.

Re: HELP! FIRST CLASS EVER!
Of course you should speak to them in spanish if they don't understand you at all.
And I think it's best to start with the easiest: Hello my name is... How are you?
I'm currently taking a chinese course and of course our teacher speaks german since we don't understand chinese.
greetings lisa

Hi, Javier,
I just read your reply. Of course you should speak the only language they Know, but try to teach them the basics e.g. Hallo and then translate in spanish. my name is Javier and translate in spanish. Then ask them to repeat what you said but this time they will use what they have learnt.
e.g. Hallo, my name is Tina . Try to teach them simple things how old are you etc. Then, if you have a course book start, follow it. Of course you should explain and translate in spanish. And as Hw you could ask them to practise in learning by heart expressions about themselves.
