Default 'gonna' etc.

Hi,

In which situations do you find 'gonna' (instead of going to) rude or at least awkward?
When should we avoid using such words like gonna, otta , gotta, lotta, wanna etc.?

I mean, while at an interview for a job, taking exams, talking to the elderly, might it cause a problem?

It's an every day slang. You don't want to use it at an interview. You need to present yourself well polished and without any slang suprises.
