Hi giorgi123,
I saw your question about TOEFL exam passing and I get interested, because here is the same situation. I want to do some master programme and there are requirements for English Academic Levels, such as IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge Examinations. The problem is that the preparation courses are very expensive here and I have heard that IELTS is more difficult than TOEFL. Do you go to do some study or it is for a job purpose and what do you know about the exams differences?
Hi Everyone!
I have some question about English Academic courses in UK. For an academic purpose I need these qualifications of English language and there is too much offer in a web, but I don’t know what their price/quality stance is.
Can someone give me a good advice for a good school to do preparation for these qualifications below?
IELTS with a minimum score of 6.5
TOEFL with a minimum score of 575 (paper-based), 233 (computer-based)
Have you taken either exam before or done a trial to get a score?
Hi Tedol,
Thank you for your reaction!
No it would be my first examination.
I did some exam for Dutch, but it is another story.
Can you recommend me in London or somewhere else in UK a good school for that purpose. At the moment I am in Holland and probably until June I have a time to spend for preparation. My level of English is pre-intermediate and my writing skills are not good enough, though the rest is not perfect too.
Kind regards,
K.M.
I have found some Language centre in London, named LLC (London Language Centre). Is anybody knows it here? There are some good recommendations on the web, but if it is truth?? The prices are normal and de size of groups too.
Please any suggestieons!!!
Hi
I run an exam preparation school and have been teaching tests like TOEFL and IELTS for over 12 years, so I know quite a lot about these tests. I can say that in almost every case and for almost every student, IELTS is an easier choice than TOEFL iBT. If you want to know the reasons why, visit my school's website (I'm not trying to sell you anything, I promise). There's a link that might help:
Comparison of the IELTS and TOEFL tests of English
Good luck!
Hi,
Thank you for you replay.
I followed the link, and the information is very useful! Unfortunately Canada is far away for me and I want to do IELTS prepare in England, probably in London, because of distance and easy to go. But anyway thanks for information!!!
I can't say that their website grabbed me. As you've got such a specific goal, have you looked at the more specialist exam courses (search for IELTS London) or those on offer at University Language Centres (UCL, King's College, etc). The LLC looked a bit more like a general language course, and I would head straight for specialist exam and academic courses if I were you. I haven't lived or taught in the UK for several years so I'm a bit out of touch for recommending individual places I'm afraid.
