methodology
Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to help me to make the correct choice of the meaning of the term in bold in the following sentence?
Thanks to effective methodologies both wide social-political issues like globalization, migrations and employment for example, and specific techno-economic issues (greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, consequences of aging, technological choices) can be evaluated.
I have fears for an unwitting misuse of the interpretation of the term methodology caused by the presence of the important conceptual distinction between the tools of scientific investigation (properly methods) and the principles that determine how such tools are deployed and interpreted.
Thank you for your efforts.
Regards,
V.

Re: methodology
I wouldn't use methodologies nakedly here, but put an adjective with it: mathematical or economic methodologies.
Also, wide is too concrete for an issue. I'd use "broad."
