Which of the following is correct in a written greeting, e.g., letter; email; text message?
1. Hi, Mary,
2. Hi Mary

Neither is correct, "Hi Mary," is correct.

There is a confusion - if neither is correct, why is the comma between Hi and Mary correct [ which in my view it is].
