Passive question
"He should have carried what i ordered him to do "
what is the passive from this sentence .
i think it is :
"What i ordered him to do should have been carried by him"
is not that correct ?
thanks in advance

Re: Passive question
I'm not a teacher, but here is my take on it.
Your meaning is unclear here.
If you ordered him to do it and it wasn't done,
the passive is sort of understood here, I would think.
What I ordered him to do should have been done. (by him)
if some other action occurred with the order, you should expand on that in the sentence.
For example,
What I ordered him to do should have been done by him, instead of by X, being cancelled, etc.

You're thinking of "carry out"
"He should have carried out what I ordered him to do "
"What I ordered him to do, should have been carried out by him"
If he "carries out" your orders, he obeys them and puts them into effect.
buggles (not a teacher)
