    Question Double Check

    Hi,

Is the usage of "double check" appropriate in formal contexts?

I have read it is an Americanism and an informal expression.

Can recheck or reconfirim be used instead of "double check"?

    Thanks

    Default Re: Double Check

I would use confirm or verify, if you prefer to avoid the oral quality of double-check. Recheck and reconfirm don't sound very good, and are almost tautological.
