layers
What is it understood as "layers" in the context of the homeless, you know, the ones having to carry all the belongings on their back" while wandering around. I don't quite get if "layers" is for garments you put on one over the other fearing to lose them or because of cold, or simply the fact of carrying them in some way, by shopping trolley or some sort of bag. Is it a familiar word in English?
Thank You

Re: layers
I think it means those who are extremely poor.
They lay on the ground in streets.

Yes, I know that. Thanks for your interest, but my question is referring to the meaning of "layers" in this poor context of the homeless.

It means wearing layers of clothing, to protect themselves from the cold.

Re: layers
I agree with Bhai - layering clothes to keep warm.
