Smile punctuation after 'and oblige'

I heard that in a formal letter writing if it ends with "and oblige" we do not use any punctuation.

The reason being that the letter writer is asking to be obliged. Means the undersigned is asking to be obliged by the favour.

Can you please throw some light on it.

I have never seen a letter ending with "and oblige".
