1. They fight like cats and dogs over cats and dogs on a day rainning cats and dogs.

2. They fight like cats and dogs over cats and dogs on a day it rains cats and dogs.

Are both grammatically correct?
If yes, which one is a better expression?

The first would be better in the past tense, thus: "They fought like cats and dogs over cats and dogs on a day when it was raining cats and dogs."

You could also say: "They fight like cats and dogs over cats and dogs on days when it rains cats and dogs."
