"worth" and "worthy"

Dear Everyone,

Recently, I read a English Studying Book in Chinese that suggests “The movie is worth watching” can be rewritten like this “The movie is worthy of being watched”.
However, it will be considered to be wrong if you write it like this “The movie is worthy of watching.”

Is it true? After I searched on the Internet through Google, there are 14 links for the key words of “movie is worthy of watching” on the web and 1link for the same key word on the page from the UK. Nevertheless, I can only find 2 links for the key words of “movie is worthy of being watched” and there is none on the page from the UK.

For me, I think both ways are all right. Can anyone tell me which is accurate?

It's worth watching means it possesses value.
It's worthy of being watched means it deserves (our) attention because it possesses value.
It's worthy of watching sounds odd to my North American ears.;-)
