Question the use of the word should

I don't quite understand when and how to use 'should' as the start of a sentence, for example 'should you have any comments please feel free to contact me'

'Should' there replaces 'if'. We often do this replacemnt in first conditionals. It can be used to reduce the probability- should you need help = you probably won't. It's also common in formal language.
