This sentence isn't too long and a good old 'and' would suffice: By the time Julia Roberts was 23, she had won two academy award nominations and had In the original sentence, 'also' makes it sound as if the two things are quite separate. On the contrary, she had won the Oscars because her performances were so good, and leading up to these awards from the Academy of Performing Arts, the public recognized her talent and she became popular. |

| I think it would be a good idea to let the poster try to solve it on his/her own first, though. By the way "female actress" is redundant.
